I have a question:
Why is everyone giving us shit in the preseason polls about our inexperienced defense when floridas defense is young as well, and they are ranked in the top 3 most of the time? I'm assuming it's cuz of the name right?

their defense has experience from starting last year. not to mention being loaded with great athletes.

they have brandon spikes, major wright, carlos dunlap, plus will hill, dee finley, and omar hunter are coming in. every on can play. their only downside last year was the pass defense. and that was because they were all fr and soph first year starters.

florida going to be very good on offense and defense. they're definately the fastest team in the SEC.

Well UF's defense was young last year but they got a lot of experience under their belt. They returned just about everyone on D. People are giving us crap about our D because we lost many key players such as Wicks, Dykes, Dingle, Lewis, ect. However, we do have players capable of filling those shoes; everyone will just have to wait till the season starts to find out about them though. I feel confident going into this season about our D.

Their recruits "rank" higher, higher ranked recruits get a little more respect in preseason polls, esp with a young team. How do you judge young teams? by the recruits they bring in.

Example of my idea, if a team had to start all freshmen on defense which D would you rank higher, USC or UCONN? If you dont have a reference to judge then you have to look at the talent they brought in.

Obvi USC cause they bring in the bigger names.

Because they only lost 2 starters on defense, Derrick Harvey and Tony Joiner.

WVU lost Dykes, Dingle, Magro, Mundy, Wicks, Lewis, and Rivers from their starting defense.

Losing Rivers and Lewis should make our defense STRONGER

Yea not really sure why people are out to get us. What else is new. You can expect more of the same this year as last year. Our D last year killed teams. Granted we've lost some key players, we also have some clutch players filling in the vacancies.

Any people hating on our D... Refer them to this video!

Our 2007 defense was very good. We lost almost everyone from it, so i dont see why you think posting a youtube vid of our 2007 defense proves that it is going to be great this year.

Who replaces Dykes?

Who replaces Wicks and Mundy?

Dykes replaced by Scooter Berry.

Mundy replaced by Quinton Andrews.

Wicks replaced by Nate Sowers.

That's a pretty glass-is-completely-empty and smashed to pieces attitude. Berry, Williams (Maybe), Ivy & Andrews are all back and there are some pretty capable players with some experience on D' at all positions. There are definitely some big holes to fill, but the sky hasn't hit me up side the head yet.

No one said anything about them being the same caliber. Point is, they are all capable of filling the shoes. Andrews is a junior with two years of experience under his belt- same with Berry. Sowers has seen the field and made plays his whole career.
