If Matthews comes, on paper at least, this looks like a pretty good class:
Jordan McCabe - 95.01
Derek Culver - 96.99
Trey Doomes - 91.76
Emmit Matthews - 91.25
Jermaine Haley - Former 4*/5*
Andrew Gordon - underrecruited 6'10" shot blocking and atheletic as hell player who could contribute immediately.

If I'm counting right, we've got room for him with Sags coming back:

2 spots from Carter and Miles

1 spot - Routt back to walk-on

3 spots - Hunter, Bender, and Allen leaving

Has Lamont West at 14th in 2019 Mock Draft.
Konate dropped to 16th from 8 last time I checked.

I was down on Lamont especially during second half but didn't realize he was playing hurt. Reminds me of Adrian's Sophomore year.

So if Konate stays, then you could have three possible players that could get drafted next season. Konate, West, and Ahmad.

Losing Allen is tough, his offense helped as a third option, but this PG Hailey looks like a great replacement. Just a much needed ball handler that is big enough to cover any Big 12 guards. with Bolden, McCabe, Knapper, all guys that seem to be at 5'11 or smaller, Trey Doomes does not seem to be 6'3 at all, I would say 6'1 at most. Didn't seem that much taller than McCabe.

He can sure jump if he's only 6'1"...did you watch that highlight video?

Also, Ahmad has n't shown me ANYTHING that makes me think he'll be drafted. He's gonna have to have a HELL of a senior season to make that happen.

Not really seeing it for West, either, even if he was playing hurt.

To me, NBA draft guys dominate and/or take over games. We saw it with Carter, and with Konate's defense this past year. Have seen brief flashes from Ahmad and West, but saw just as much with Dax this past year and haven't heard his name even mentioned when anyone talks NBA draft.

Emmitt Matthews, Jr. is officially a Mountaineer.

Yes, that's correct.

Returning (7)

Ahmad
Bolden
Harler
Harris
Knapper
Konate
West

Recruits (6)

Culver
Doomes
Gordon
Haley
Matthews
McCabe

Walk-Ons (2)

Routt
Horton

That's 13 scholarship players if Konate returns and 12 if he doesn't. No problem.

Mitch Vingle's column from yesterday's Gazette Mail:

https://www.wvgazettemail.com/sports/w ... fd-a5a4-84fe02fa4ac4.html

Included this tid-bit: "Huggins when asked how Teddy Allen’s departure will affect his team: “It won’t affect us at all.”"

This recruiting class just keeps getting better. I think my numbing childhood of Gale Catlett days is finally starting to wear off. Huggs has established a solid basketball program at WVU.

I honestly feel that we have to be considered one of the top 15 programs in the country.

Gale Catlett had a few pretty heralded recruiting classes. I remember his "young guns" from the early 90's. That class had Mike Boyd, Marsalis Basey, Lawrence Pollard, Ricky Robinson and Phil Wilson. The next year he brought in Leon Kirkaldy a blue chip big man from Philadelphia who starred beside Rasheed Wallace at Simon Gratz only to have Pollard cripple him in a car accident returning from Easter break.

Yea, back off Catlett. Let's remember, he was recruiting to the Eastern 8 and the Atlantic 10.

Greg Jones
Lester Rowe
Phil Collins
Dale Blaney
Russel Todd

etc.

Now those of us who remember the Joedy Gardner days...though to be honest, he coached Bob Huggins, Maurice Robinson, Warren Baker and Stan Boskovich, among others...

Wow, impressed with Jevon Carter Combine stats, 6ft about 200lbs and only 4% body fat. I'm just under 6ft and 180lbs but over 15% body fat. To get to 4% body fat, means insane workouts, and a diet of zero fast food.

I think whats so impressive is that, he's almost 200lbs,most people with low body fat are skinny too. Just show under Huggins he will have your body in prime condition.

I love Carter.

Why are we talking about him in the Open Scholarships thread?
