Researched our standing amongst the NCAA tourney's teams.
We are not last in shooting % in the tourney! Two others are below us, well actually Radford is a play-in team so one Syracuse is making us the penultimate team in the basketball field of competitors.

203 Provedence .442
204 Texas Southern .441
205 Tennessee .441
214 Auburn .439
220 Texas .438
245 Flordia .434
249 West Virginia .434
280 Radford .462
312 Syracuse .418

Bobo better take note and work on this bottom issue as there is so much great about our team but this area is in ICU mode. Come on Bobo and get this fixed ASAP Find us a specialist Shooter who is our Mr. 3 man.

Was going to do more regarding coaching responsibility theory based on the Free-Throw % compared to Field Shooting %, but I lost my spreadsheets accidentally. My theory is that the players can make charity stripes with practice, while it is the coach's job to encourage shooters and have shooting sets to get the shooter open. I speculated Bobo has forgotten this element and is not aware it is his job to have the players run sets to get the open shot and actually shoot it. When they do shot a shooting set the others will know the process to be ready to rebound based on tendencies of the shooters. I will let this go for now but we really need someone working on the offense as Bobo is doing so much to be perfect.

Murray State gave Auburn all they could stand and our common opponent, Marist, was defeated by Murray State by 37 points and by the old gold and blue by 6 points.

Our team better not underestimate the Racers.

Murray State could easily be this year's Stephen F. Austin as far as we're concerned, and Wichita State, on paper at least, will eat Marshall's lunch.

I don't see this game ever happening for one or both of those reasons.

Nice article on WVU's NCAA history and how our expectation have changed in recent years after years of NCAA futility dating back to the Pelopennesian War.

I heard Huggins on the radio for about 15 minutes today in Pittsburgh n The Fan. He seemed jovial and as loosy-goosy as I’ve ever heard him. He said he loves SD and loves that arena and that it’s a great place to shoot. Also very complimentary of the team and their work ethic and their effort against KU (said we played excellent defense and KU would’ve beaten Golden State Saturday). I remember him before SFA there was anger and dismay before the game as well as concern. I detect none of that from his interview. I wanted to win Saturday, really bad, but he is right. We played damn near perfect and I believe that effort will be enough to not only win, but destroy Murray St and whoever comes next.

Eer’s roll big

I am still shaking my head that we are playing in San Diego in a bracket called "East."

Unless there is a town in Pennsylvania called San Diego that I don't know about.

Why is my East posting routed as a musing when this bs is granted relevant? Your restrictions of my postings on a public board are questionable. Your actions regarding my musings are amusing to me.

Is there discrimination here against me? LOL

Might want to file a complaint.

Interesting, that according to Ken Pom, our offensive rating is #14, so TalkOption, it doesn't seem nearly as dire as you like to claim it is.

We get so many extra shots and have a sharp free throw %. FG% ranking for the season reveals how proficient we are in the fundamentals of shooting. Adjusting for these numbers is what the Ken Prom is using, while I am specifically talking shooting percentage not the offense in total.

Ken Pom is using total game stats, O and D along with ball control etc. Please note the differences.

The leading power indices have WVU as favorites to win the first two games.

Sagarin:

9 West Virginia = 89.97
Murray State = 78.70
Wichita State = 87.91

KenPom
13 West Virginia +21.82
60 Murray St. +12.77
20 Wichita St. +20.05

For Sagarin, the difference in index is the expected difference in score. For KenPom, I believe the index is per 100 possessions, so multiplying by .7 should give a reasonable prediction.

Sure is, it's right next to Bird in Hand. Been through both a time or two. Personally I prefer Intercourse but Bird in Hand will do in a pinch.
