This could be a click-bait piece like the lady dragged out of the legislature (she was treated improperly but not so sure about the merits of her cause after learning more here on the couch...).

It appears that the transparency of how the money is spent is to ensure that we hire West Virginians whenever possible and to ensure that low bidders don’t scam the system with large change orders, etc. I agree with the republican legislator’s stance that we don’t need to publicize names and addresses of project workers but certainly there is middle ground vs. giving WV citizens the appearance that there is something to hide.

I wouldn't doubt it with this bunch. We really need to clean house in this state on both sides of the aisle. There are some good ones here and there, but for the most part we have pretty poor elected representation presently. I am concerned that the damage they do will be very hard to reverse in decades to come.

I feel if your tax dollars are being spent on workers, you have a right to know the name, and the department of these employees (but not home address and contact).

My name, workplace, and salary are published yearly by the local right wing rag newspaper on their website - they file a FOIA request every year to get it, against the will of my employer.

Edit: Not just me, all the employees in my organization - taxpayer funded.

Makes sense. Easier to hide something if it is “male-38 years” vs. “Tim Smith - Randolph County” or something similar.
