I really hope JEVON shuts down Young. Tired if hearing about him.

The Carter vs Young matchup is going to be fun to watch. Both are PG's and it's great offense vs great defense. I just hope the refs let these kids play. Otherwise they are going to dilute the intensity. FWIW, Carter will win the match-up.

I think it'll be interesting to see the combination Huggs throws at Young. I'd assume Dax & Carter both harass the Freshmen all game. The buddy hield treatment will be in full effect Saturday night. Let's get this W & keep grinding!

I made this comment in the other thread just a min ago. I fully expect that to happen.

A WVU win is a must to hold serve in the home-home schedule.

An OU win on the Road would be HUGE for OU.

THIS is why TEN team conferences are the BEST. TRUE Home-Home schedules.

The BIG XII needs to promote the crap out of having a TEN team conference and stand by it.

Super Conferences are way too watered down. I would argue they don't produce a TRUE champion.

But it really isn't is it? Because at the end after we have a conference champion due to home and home schedules we name a champion, eliminate two teams and have a playoff where we THEN name a team that proves it was the hottest over a 4 day period in March and we promote that team to the NCAA Tournament. They may be the same but may not be.

We will need to be fundamentally sound to beat them. All phases. No stupid mistakes, limit our turnovers while maximizing theirs. Swarm to the ball. Take advantage of the charity stripe. Usually FT's down the stretch are what decides a close game. Our bigs will have to dominate the paint. Board crash and put-back. Trae Young is fun to watch, he plays well above his age. Can't expect to shut the kid completely down, he's the real deal. I do think Jevon and Dax will hound him all night. They'll have to disrupt his rhythm and get in his head. Give him a few love pats. Cut the head off the snake. Lon Kruger is a great coach. This will be a fun game to watch. If we handle our own we grind out a win. If we let Young roam free it will be a long night.

Prediction: 73-71 EERs with Teddy Allen being the freshman who gets some love after this game.

I hope Carter's wrist has healed. It'll be a tough game if he has trouble shooting or taking care of the ball.

Also, how quick they hang TWO fouls on Javon and Dax. And, Konate might as well just stay on the bench.

We will see how much the conference likes us on Saturday.

I don't think we shut Young down, all we need to do is slow him down.

No doubt fouls will be huge in this one...as in every other conference game. Konate getting in trouble will hurt, Carter getting in trouble might doom us. If we stay out of trouble and get decent offensive contributions from West, Allen, and Beetle, we should be good.

I hope the longer break from Monday to Saturday helps JC's wrist heal up and hope it isn't one of those lingering all season deals. It has impacted his offenseive play significantly.

I think we could see something pretty similar to what happened against Kansas when Andrew Wiggins came to town and scored 41 but in a 92-86 WVU win. Only 2 other KU players scored in double digits: Perry Ellis had 14 and Frank Mason had 10.

Basically, let Young get his and pop off on the stat sheet, and try to shut everyone else down.

I'm not sure Carter could/would tolerate that game plan. I think we shut him down and if someone else from OU steps up we may be in trouble....but I doubt it. Did I see that ESPN had us at 90 some % win probability?

I'm guessing that reflects a fans ranking and not ESPN staff. I think a lot more WVU fans comment there than OU fans.

I think that is based on ESPN's BPI factors.

Regardless of how this game shakes out, it's refreshing to see the sports media actually seem excited about an upcoming WVU game AND give us respect. I really like the identity Huggs has built for us, as a uniquely scrappy team that absolutely gets in the heads of our opponents.

I'm going to bet on our 2 senior defensive guards to get in the head of Young. I think he will have a bad game from the start. ONLY if the refs let us play. If they call touch fouls on us, especially early, Young will score A LOT and the majority will be from the charity stripe.

Huh? I've watched a fair amount of bball so far and there is a marked difference in the way we look compared to the other top 10 teams, primarily on defense. While I agree with you in other years, this one is different. X-factor Teddy alone makes this team look different...his scoring style is consistent. Add in a basket protector and defense on the perimeter and I think we will make some noise.

Unless that was sarcasm or a good luck ritual, in which case, please carry on.
