I can not wait until the game. I'll be unproductive all week lol.

This year we will finally win against Gonzaga and we will be one game closer to our national championship.

I think Carter found his clutch gene against Notre Dame. That fadeaway 3 pointer with 2 seconds left on the shot clock after they cut it to a 2 possession game was a thing of beauty. Plus our boys will be well rested to execute our defense to the fullest potential. Gonzaga won't know what hit them!

LETS GO!

Their center is a big body, that's about it. Our guys may be a couple inches shorter but much more athletic. Now if we let him own the perimeter around the basket he'll dominate....but I'm sure Ahmad, Macon, and Konate will "make him aware" of their presence. Nothing better than bullying a bully. I think this is a good matchup for us. If we dictate the tempo and make them play our game we will beat them. If we don't we will get beaten, bad possibly. We also have to be fundamentally sound, make FTs, knock down some 3's just as we did vs ND. I'm pumped. No one is picking us to win. Nothing better than proving the talking heads wrong. Zaga is a good team that is well coached....but they're standing on the tracks while the train is coming through!

Anyone concerned that we're playing in their timezone?

6:40pm body time for us, 4:40pm for Gonzaga....

It's gonna suck for Florida and Xavier playing 10pm EST games.

They also have a back up center that is seven feet tall and quite athletic. On occasions they may play both at the same time. If the refs allow them to put their hand through the rim to block shots it could be a long night.

???

Three hours difference:

Game time 7:39

WVU players: 4:39

Gonzaza: would not be bothered. They are in the same time zone as San Jose.

To answer your question, no I think elevation is a factor when you travel, but not time. (look when University Houston lost to NC State the big man Akeem had a hard time breathing)

What is the big deal if you play a game at 4:30 in the afternoon?

I think going west is easier than goin east. Maybe Hugs will get them out a day early like in Buffalo to get them settled.

I think playing at 4:30 pacific time is ideal for WVU. I think this team has done worse when they've had to sit around a hotel all day. I don't think it gives either team an advantage but I do think it is just overall better for WVU.

So reading a few things about them, their defense may be super underrated. I just can't get over how terrible Zags schedule looks, even in the tournament so far. I think that Iowa state game was a fluke, we also beat them pretty good early in the year.

The more I think about it the more daunting our region is. I was elated with our draw when the brackets came out, but in hindsight how nice would it be to be in the east with Duke and Nova out, or even the Midwest ? Thinking about going through Gonzaga and Arizona to reach our goal is daunting. Gotta take it one at a time...no thinking about Zona till we beat Gonzaga.

I do think the winner or the west will be a heavy favorite in the final 4 against the east winner. We've seen Kansas...we're better than Kansas. I have no fear of UCLA or UNC or Kentucky. I'm not going to offer a gaurantee or anything like that that we will win the west, but I feel very confident in saying that the winner of the west (excluding Xavier) will win the whole damn thing

You have that ass backwards.

Game time 4:39, WVU players 7:39

We will be playing a late night game (body time) vs an early evening game for Gonzaga.... Hence the issue.

You got me all messed up by compounding my bad math.

It will be 6:39pm WVU time, 3:39pm Gonzaga time.

So do you stay on East coast time and prep like it's a prime time game, or do you force acclimation and play a late afternoon game?

538 gives the West winner a 32% chance of winning the tournament, far better than the 25% chance if all brackets were equal.

So what I have picked up from Zags boards:

- Breaking the press is easy.
- WVU only runs the press because we have no talent.
- WVU is the least talented Sweet 16 team.
- No one at the arena will be pulling for WVU.
- Double digit win for the Zags.

I watched the beginning of their game against Northwestern, but probably only the first 5 minutes. Maybe it's just me but I noticed that center looks very un-athletic. Seemed like on any kind of up-tempo play he was falling way behind. I think Macon has the athleticism to dominate this guy.

I am more worried about Collins, their 7-foot freshman who comes off the bench. He is a much more athletic big man that could cause WVU problems.

I saw that yesterday.

I hope they do take us lightly.

Macon has the athleticism to dominate a lot of people, and he's shown flashes of it throughout the season. I think part of the problem is we generally suck at post entry passing. I also think he's not very confident, but when he gets a couple to fall he's a different player.

I'm hoping Macon and Ahmad can flip the Beast Mode switch to the ON position this offseason a la Joe Alexander's senior season.
