If Jerry West is “The Logo” then it is only fair that we call WVU women’s soccer player Kadeisha Buchanan “The Stamp,” although that’s kind of unfair because since this defender from Canada has come to WVU, no one has found a way to lick her.

Bob Hertzel at his "finest"

Given that she seems to be a healthy, well adjusted young lady 19-20 years old.....I am betting someone male or female has found a way.....just saying.

So ... is Hertzel still trying to "lick" his stamps???

How long have the self-adhesive stamps been around???

This might have been slightly humerous 30 years ago. Now, it is just a creepy old man talking about "licking" a young female soccer player.

Nice try Bob. And watch out for the kick to the shins.

Cameroon defeated France 2-0 despite being outshot about 20-3. Beautiful 1st goal -- a defender looking away from the goal flicked the ball 1/3 or 1/4 of the way up the field at the field of a teammate for a breakaway.

Germany tied Norway 1-1 despite outshooting them 27-4.

Yes! Ashley Lawrence made a nice shot. Another WVU player, Kadeshia Buchanan, also starts for Canada and played a very good game.

The WVU women's soccer program got a lot of props from the announcers throughout the game. Great exposure for the program and the University.

The kind of "pipeline" from Canada we all can agree is a good thing

Canada starts a 17-year-old midfielder. It would be wonderful if she'd go to WVU.

Buchanan and Lawrence got good reviews in Canada's loss to England in the quarter-finals:

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2 ... ng-in-tense-quarter-final

With the defensively assured Kadeisha Buchanan starting to play it out smoothly from the back in a manner which made it hard to credit she is only 19-years-old there was a sense that half time could not arrive soon enough for Sampson. Before it did though his side conceded a goal.

Poor Bardsley was left looking mortified after a shocking error in which she inexplicably spilled a routine cross from the impressive Ashley Lawrence. Sinclair needed no invitation to pounce and register only her second goal of Canada 2015 by stabbing the rebound home. The roar rising from BC Place was so loud it would be no surprise if it was heard across the border with the United States.

The Guardian listed Virginia’s Buchanan as one of the top 5 players of the world cup:

http://www.theguardian.com/football/2 ... ayers-england-lucy-bronze

3 Kadeisha Buchanan – Canada

At only 19 Buchanan is a dynamic, remarkably assured central defender known not only for rarely losing aerial battles but an ability to play the ball smoothly out from the back. She represents a big reason why John Herdman, Canada’s English coach, believes the future is bright for women’s football in the host country. The youngest of seven sisters brought up by a single mother, Buchanan combines life as a university student with playing for the Virginia Mountaineers in the United States. This will surely be the first of several World Cups for a young woman who makes a habit of exceeding expectations. “Kadeisha is the Christine Sinclair of my defence,” says Herdman. Praise indeed.

Buchanan got trophy for "Young Player of the Tournament" and the announcer said that she plays her college ball for WEST Virginia.

I'd cut them an inch of slack. The Guardian is a British print. Maybe they missed their tea-time...

They do have a sense of humor [or perhaps humour] -- for July 4:

Top Drawer Soccer has two Mountaineers in their preseason first and second teams. Kadeisha Buchanan is the first defender listed, and Ashley Lawrence is a third team midfielder. Buchanan has a legitimate shot at the Hermann Trophy, which is like the Heisman for soccer.

Top Drawer Best XI
