Any hotels within walking distance to Byrd Stadium, and what about tailgating?

I'll be in Va. Beach for this game. Since I doubt the TV in the hotel room will have the Big Ten Network, does anyone know anywhere down there that would be playing the game? Oh and I apologize in advance if we lose this game, I don't think we've ever won a game while I was down there. It's jinxed or something.

I'm from VB. I would recommend AJ Gators. Some google searching would tell you which one is closest to you (which if you're at the oceanfront would probably be Hilltop). If not, there's always BDubs.

Oh and be careful down there, the cops are power hungry and just plain terrible. There's a saying in VB, "Come on vacation, leave on probation." Have fun though. The water shouldn't be too cold yet.

For those of us living outside the B1G footprint, do you know if the B1G Network will be simulcast on any local affiliates?

I know if years' past, weird stations like The CW have come through in the clutch and broadcast weird games like this, but since B1G is a FOX affiliate, and CW is CBS, not sure if this is going to occur.

Might have to be a sportsbar-type of game in the CRW this weekend...

In years past, we could gauge our season with the outcome of the Maryland game. I was wondering if anyone knows how many times we beat Maryland and didn't make a bowl? And how many times we lost to Maryland and made a bowl?

BTW...The game is on the BTN network. 920 on Time Warner.

I always told my friends that our season and Maryland's season and bowl hopes often hinged on the WVU vs MD game. This matchup was almost always during the first half of the season and was the first real test for both teams. Traditionally, MD had more stellar lines on both O and D, while WVU had better skill players.

Usually the winner went to a bowl and the loser didn't. I think a few times both teams went bowling. I lived in MD close to College Park and was able to follow them closely through the years and games against them were very physical affairs. I expect the same this Saturday.

...stay tuned for the next question answer.

5 Times......

1984 - Bluebonnet Bowl *
1987 - Sun Bowl
1994 - Carquest Bowl
2002 - Continental Tire Bowl
2003 - Gator Bowl **

* WVU was to my knowledge never paid for playing in this bowl and it was the reason the bowl had to disband.
** Lost to Maryland IN the bowl also.

In '03 didn't we play UM 3 times in 12 months?

Edit - Nope. We played them twice in 12 months in '04. Not sure where I'm getting the 3 times in 12 months...

Something I have noticed is that blowouts come in bunches in the series; not good news for us if that remains true.

I like our chances this year. That is the observation of a person that is normally pretty unbiased. I definitely will take WVU and the point. If we lose it will only be by the slightest margin.

Payback time, I hope Maryland brings a lunch. They barely beat lowly USF and we barely lost to #3 Bama, I too like our chances and will be betting money on WVU as a 3 point dog.

I'm always a little bit worried when we play Maryland, but less worried this year. I don't think anyone has any idea how fired up this team is going to be to play the Twerps. Holgorsen even said the entire team would be jacked up to for this game in the Towson post game presser. I think this one has been circled for a long time folks. Let's make those stupid turtles frigging PAY for last year.

I'm headed down to College Park Friday and staying with some friends that attend Maryland. This is probably the most nervous I've ever been for a Maryland game. (Mostly because I'll be in attendance and be severely outnumbered.) Since I live close to the Maryland border, I have a hatred for the Terps that runs fairly deep. It's going to be an interesting game.

Probably. Slinging the ball 40 times probably tires an arm out, especially one that had offseason surgery.
