Not that anyone seems to care, but it seems they likely died of CO poisoning. The truck was found half submerged in a mud hole with them still in it.

Probably wasted...got stuck and tried to sleep it out until morning.

If that is, in fact, the cause of death, that might be the most redneck way to die I've ever heard of.

I always thought that if the tailpipe was clogged, that the engine would stop due to restricted air flow. (at least that's what happened when Axel Foley put those bananas up Billy and Taggart's tail pipe)

That depends on the condition of the exhaust system. If there are significant leaks/holes forward of the rear axle the exhaust would just back up to that point and exit, most likely into the passenger compartment. Having seen pictures of this specific vehicle I would suspect this is the case. An exhaust system in proper condition would have stalled this car in minutes if it was completey plugged at the tailpipe.

...5 years later and the producer of buckwild is making a new show in charleston/morgantown.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The producers of the short-lived reality series “Buckwild” are filming a new show in West Virginia.
The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports “West Virginia Wilder” is being shot in Charleston and Morgantown. A news release said the executive producers are working on broadcast rights.

Morgantown native J.P. Williams, one of the executive producers, said the new series will feature a stronger female cast and include more humor.

“I think this show will be a completion of what we got started,” Williams said. “There’s a lot I’m excited about, frankly.”

“Buckwild” featured a group of hard-partying West Virginia residents and was a big hit for MTV. U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin had criticized the show as profiting off of the “poor decisions of our youth.”
