A prime example of governmental hypocracy.

Ohh...combining alcohol and caffine isn't safe.

....but please, smoke 2 packs of cigarettes a day...it's not like there's any arsenic or formaldahyde in them. All the research shows that they're addictive and hazardous to your health, but as long as you know the risks, you're an adult and can make up your own mind if you want to smoke them or not.

And yea, we almost forgot, you'll be thrown in jail if you have any flowers from certain naturally growing cannibis species on your possesion.

This **** really grinds my gears.

Sorry WVisHome there are too many real government regulation problems like that wonderful plant you mentioned for me to get behind you on this one. If people get outraged about everything there is no focus to change the important stuff.

The only thing this tells me for sure is that Four Loko doesn't have lobbyists as good as Red Bull's.

I can't really say I disagree with their finding though. I have seen a few articles that report research to find that combining these energy drinks with alcohol is causing more problems associated with excessive inebriation (alcohol poisoning, aggravated DUI, etc.) It's one thing to make that decision on your own with your own ingredients, it's another to allow a commercial product with such dangerous consequences.

Playing devil's advocate...

Alcohol by definition is a poison to humans...the intoxication you feel after drinking it is your body's way of telling you you've been poisoned...our society likes to be intoxicated, so we accept the risk.

The FDA says it's ok to have a certain percentage of rat poop in your cereal....

Quote:
CHOCOLATE AND CHOCOLATE LIQUOR

Insect filth: Average is 60 or more insect fragments per 100 grams when 6 100-gram subsamples are examined OR any 1 subsample contains 90 or more insect fragments

Rodent filth: Average is 1 or more rodent hairs per 100 grams in 6 100-gram subsamples examined OR any 1 subsample contains 3 or more rodent hairs

CITRUS FRUIT JUICES, CANNED

Insects and insect eggs: 5 or more Drosophila and other fly eggs per 250 ml or 1 or more maggots per 250 ml

RED FISH AND OCEAN PERCH

Parasites: 3% of the fillets examined contain 1 or more parasites accompanied by pus pockets

MACARONI AND NOODLE PRODUCTS

Insect filth: Average of 225 insect fragments or more per 225 grams in 6 or more subsamples

Rodent filth: Average of 4.5 rodent hairs or more per 225 grams in 6 or more subsamples

PEANUT BUTTER

Insect filth: Average of 30 or more insect fragments per 100 grams

Rodent filth: Average of 1 or more rodent hairs per 100 grams

POPCORN

Rodent filth: 1 or more rodent excreta pellets are found in 1 or more subsamples, and 1 or more rodent hairs are found in 2 or more other subsamples OR 2 or more rodent hairs per pound and rodent hair is found in 50% or more of the subsamples OR 20 or more gnawed grains per pound and rodent hair is found in 50% or more of the subsamples

WHEAT FLOUR

Insect filth: Average of 75 or more insect fragments per 50 grams

Rodent filth: Average of 1 or more rodent hairs per 50 grams

Does that thought process apply to any other industry? Cigarettes? Medication?

At what point does the onus lie on the consumer and not the supplier?

How much "big government" intervention into the "free market" is acceptable?

Why do I picture a hyper ass dog behind a keyboard everytime SG posts?

This is bad for people so lets get rid of it but pure grain alcohol can be purchased at a store. OK?

No doubt man....I've never tried Claritin and beer, but I'll bet it gets you effed up!

Taking benadryl while drinking and trying to stay awake as long as you can is pretty entertaining though...lol.
